Sally Wu Debuted Collection

New York Designer Sally Wu welcomed her collection Act 1 last night when she presented it at Art+Craft(in the Chambers Fine Art Gallery). It was enough to keep me wanting more!

The collection's pieces were very bold with the use of black, nude, plum, and other subtle colors. They maintained a timeless elegance, easy to transition from day to night. This Autumn, Sally Wu will keep you worm with her assortment of warm materials such as wools suede and cotton stretch jersey.

Art+Craft was held in side of an art gallery, and when I spoke with Sally, she mentioned that the idea was inspired by her childhood days as a traditional calligrapher and painter in Shanghai. I was mingling with her friends, other press members and New York's trendsetters to find that, Sally Wu has been actively involved in contemporary art, architectural design and you see these influences in her garments.

I was not expecting a fashion show, but Sally Wu put a twist on the showcase and delivered one! When a model walked out there were "ohhs & ahhs" throughout. The models made their way through the crowd, stood on pedestals and posed like statues in the spotlights.

Fifth on Main will be keeping their eyes open for more Sally Wu to come.

Badgley Mischka Fashion Show

Mark+James Fall 2010 Collection - an amazing fashion show. I attended the flawless Badgley Mischka Mark+James at Fashion Week NYC in Bryant Park yesterday. The collection resembled a solar system of beauty with illuminating details. The usage of metallic, feathers, and crystals in the outerwear embraced the collection's sense of uniqueness. The Mark+James collection has proven that, when designers have a subsidiary lines it doesn't have to be boring. In fact, the Fall 2010 Mark+James collection is quite enlightening. A mixture between gowns, sweater dressing, cocktail dresses, with a bit of rock 'n roll. The cocktail dresses had a touch of sophistication and there was this bridal gown that was to die for! The Badgley Mischka Mark + James Fall 2010 Collection is absolutely glamorous!

Christina Hendricks, Nicole Murphy, Anna Lynne McCord, Joe Zee, Erin Lucas next to Samantha Swetra (just to name a few) all had front row seats! The lighting from IMCD Lighting was...perfect! The music kept me on the edge of my seat - thanks to Javier Peral. Peter Gray, let's just say EVERY model had perfect hair! Peter Gray used Redken styling products to achieve the perfect futuristic look. Isabel Dupré did an incredible job with styling, all the accessories were alluring while Charltte Tilbury and the MAC Pro Team mastered the make up! I couldn't help but notice the futuristic nail color! Deborah Lippmann - excellent choice on nails! I wanted to cry because of the enormous amount of beauty on the catwalk! By the way, for those who weren't at the show, picture a room full of sensational fashion. Pure perfection...the entire team of experts deserved the ultimate round of applause!

Tribute: Alexander McQueen

Nothing can fully capture the love we have for his talent. Mr. McQueen shall live on in the hearts and designes of fashion designers and emerging designers from this day forth.

His family asked for privacy to come to terms with the death of McQueen, also known as Lee.

The British fashion designer Alexander McQueen has been found dead at his London home at the age of 40(February 11Th 2010).

No words can express the level of inspiration that Mr. McQueen's fashion talent has left within the fashion industry.

'His brilliant imagination knew no bounds as he conjured up collection after collection of extraordinary designs.
'At one level, he was a master of the fantastic, creating astounding fashion shows that mixed design, technology and performance and on another he was a modern-day genius'
Vogue editor, Alexandra Shulman

Let it Snow!

Yes, the snow is still falling here in the Northeast!

This Mackage Bijou Puff Jacket is the most comfortable jacket ever! Do you want to stay warm in the freezing cold? Well, the Bijou Puff coat is lined with a fur trim at the hood and is PERFECT for the cold winter months!

The next time you hear "12-inches","18-inches", or even "32-inches" of snow fall, pay it no mind.

-HOW TO STAY WARM-
Well, dressing in layers is a two part process ladies and gentlemen! You dress in layers, such as long johns, a shirt, a sweater, a coat, etc. They key is that whenever you go indoors, take off at least one layer right away.
So if you're wearing long johns, a shirt and a coat, when you step inside take the coat off, your hat, your gloves and your scarf if you have on one. It takes some practice and its not always practical, but give it a shot!

Enjoy shopping at Fifth on Main, It's a love hate relationship!

You see it first!

Behind the scenes of a Fifth on Main photo Shoot. For the perfect shot, the photographer must locate the perfect location for the designers collection.

TESTING - Many shots are taken before the model enters the set.

The photographer and their assistant must get the lighting perfect.

Not ready...YET. If one thing is wrong, EVERYTHING IS WRONG.

TAKE TWO. More sample shots must be taken before the photo shoot can be conducted.

CHECK. The models, designers, make up artists, and hair stylists are getting ready to enter the set.

READY?...SHOOT! Now that the set, models and collections are ready, the photo shoot will commence.

IT'S TEAM WORK!
